The Diocesan Safeguading Children Committee is appointed by the Bishop to work on his behalf to develop, direct and manage all aspects of policy development and training.  It also supports parishes within the context of best practice for ministry within the Diocese.

Training of parish personnel and clergy is provied on behalf of the committee by two trainers quailfied in the 'Keeping Safe' Programme.

Each parish has at least one Safeguarding Children Representative whose role it is to develop awareness in the parish of best practice.

The Parish Recruitment Committee is a sub-committee of the Parish Pastoral Council.  It has three members - the chair of the Parish Pastroal Council, the Parish Safeguarding Representative and the Parish Priest or his representative.  The committe is responsible for overseeing the selection of volunteers and staff engaged in the parish.
