1943 – 2025
It is with deep regret that the Diocese of Kilmore announces the death of Fr Eamonn Bredin R.I.P..
+ Born 13 December 1943, son of the late Hugh Bredin and Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, Lisaniska, in the parish of Ballaghameehan, Co. Leitrim
+ Studied at Glenaniff National School, De La Salle School (Ballyshannon), St Patrick’s College (Cavan) and St Patrick’s College (Maynooth)
+ Ordained to the Priesthood by the late Bishop Austin Quinn at the Cathedral of Saints Patrick & Felim, Cavan, on 15 June 1969
+ Undertook further studies at St Patrick’s College, Maynooth – 1969
+ On loan to St Patrick’s Missionary Society, Kiltegan, as Professor of Theology – 1970
+ Lecturer in Theology at St Patrick’s College, Maynooth – 1974
+ Appointed CC, Ballintemple – 1977
+ Lecturer in Sacramental Theology at the Mount Oliver Catechetical Institute, Dundalk – 1978
+ Appointed CC, Glenade – 1992
+ Appointed PP, Inishmagrath (Drumkeeran) – 1999
+ Sabbatical Leave – 2005
+ Appointed CC, Arva – 2006
+ Appointed Resident Priest, Arva – 2011
+ Appointed Resident Priest for the then Shannon-Lough Gill Pastoral Area (resident in Doobally)
+ Appointed Resident Priest, Drumkilly – 2015
+ Retired from Active Ministry – 2017
+ Returned to the House of the Father – 16 April 2025
Sincere sympathy and heartfelt condolences are extended to Fr Eamonn’s family: his brother James, his sister Lily, nieces and nephews and their families; Bishop Martin Hayes, Bishop-Emeritus Leo O’Reilly, and his brother priests of the Diocese of Kilmore, his extended family, his beloved parishioners in the parishes where he ministered; those to whom he lectured; and his large circle of friends.
FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:
Fr Eamonn will repose at the Chapel of Our Lady’s Hospital, Manorhamilton (F91 XO12) on Saturday evening from 4:00p.m. to 5:30p.m.
Funeral Mass on Sunday at 1:00p.m. in St Aidan’s Church, Ballaghameehan (F91 F653) with burial afterwards in Rossinver Cemetery.

We implore your kindness, O God, for Eamonn, your servant and Priest, that, as you made him a steward of your mysteries on earth, so you may bring him to be nourished by their truth and reality as unveiled in heaven.
