Fr. Charles Heerey,
6th December 1940 – 27th April 2017.
Fr. Charles was born on 6th December 1940. He was ordained a priest in St. Patrick’s College Maynooth on 19th June 1966. He served a curate in Killargue from 1966 – 1968. He was appointed Bursar in St. Patrick’s College Cavan in 1968, and subsequently Dean in 1973 and Spiritual Director in 1979.
In 1987 he went to Aughnasheelin as curate, before being appointed Parish Priest in Carrigallen. He was appointed Parish priest in Ballinamore, as in 2000 and his final appointment was to Annagh parish, where he served as curate in Belturbet until his death.
Bishop Leo O’Reilly celebrated requiem Mass in The Church of Immaculate Conception, Belturbet on Sunday at 2pm at which Cardinal Sean Brady presided. After Mass, Fr Charles’ remains were interred in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Maudabawn.
