Light drizzle did not deter a large number of people of all ages from Drumlane and surrounding parishes from taking part in a Pilgrimage of Hope to Drumlane Abbey early on Sunday morning, 6 July 2025.
Having assembled at Milltown Community Centre, pilgrims walked quietly to the ruins of the historic Abbey situated on the banks of the River Erne at 7:00a.m. accompanied by beautiful birdsong and the rustling of livestock in the fields along the route and around the Abbey site itself.
Mass was celebrated in the hallowed grounds at 7:30a.m. by Fr Jordan MacGabhann, CC Cavan, assisted by Fr Seán McDermott, PP Drumlane and PP Annagh.
Readers, Eucharistic Ministers and the choir came mainly from the local parish.
A beautiful commemorative bookmark was designed for the occasion and distributed to those in attendance.
Lovely and much welcomed refreshments were served afterwards in the Community Centre.
Great credit is due to the local Parish Pastoral Council, Finance Committee, and all who helped prepare for this very special event in the Jubilee Year of Hope.
