Notes for Priests and Pastoral Councils
To participate in the bell pilgrimage or other events that will be taking place in this diocese contact your local parish priest or the diocesan delegate Fr. Michael Router (049-4375004)
A health declaration form is to be given to each of the volunteers and should be returned to Fr. Michael Router at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Cavan, by Friday April 29th at the latest.
Unfortunately no one under 18 can carry the bell as that would involve a lengthy vetting procedure for the adults accompanying them.
An order form has been sent to the parishes for special Eucharistic Congress polo shirts which are supposed to be worn by the volunteers when carrying the bell. Please return your order and payment to the address at the bottom of the form.
Each parish is asked to provide two cars to accompany the bell at the front and the back of the procession.
A bell project manager will accompany the bell on each stage of its journey and will need accommodation in a hotel or guest house in the parish where the bell stays overnight. Each of the relevant parishes is asked to make the arrangements for this and forward the details to Fr. Michael Router by the end of the month.
An evening of catechesis/training for the volunteers will be held, probably in early May, at a venue and time that will be announced later. Ger Brennan and Ian Callanhan from the national organising committee will facilitate this meeting.
A short liturgy of the word will be provided for the churches where the bell pauses on its journey and a vigil service will be provided for churches where it will stay overnight. These will be forwarded in due course to the relevant parishes.
