In 1832, Rev. Charles O’Reilly built a barn style church in Knockbride townland and it is believed that it is this church which was radically renovated in 1853. Fr. James Keogan had a new roof put on the church in 1927, with further improvements in 1955. In 1962 a new bell and belfry were erected at the church. In the mid 1970’s, thanks to the generosity of Philip Rogers, Tattyreagh, the sanctuary was reconstructed and central heating was installed.
