St. Mathew’s Church, Drumavaddy was built in 1865 and like all churches at the time was very basic in structure. It had few (permanent) fittings such as seats, confessionals or devotional aids like statues or pictures. It was a functional building used for the celebration of Sunday Mass.
Down the years there were many renovations – the most recent one in 1958 when major works were carried out on the building.
