St. Mathew’s Church, Crosskeys, was built in 1839.  It was in the process of being built when part of the gable wall and roof were damaged by the ‘Big Wind’ on 6 January 1839. Extensive work was carried out on it in 1930s while Fr. Michael Young was parish priest.  Some repairs and alterations were carried out in 1981 when Fr. Tony Fay was parish priest.  Major restoration work was carried out on it in 2007 and 2008.  It was rededicated by Bishop Leo O’Reilly on 7 December 2008.
